Description

A savory and indulgent Toasted Italian Sandwich featuring a crispy ciabatta roll layered with flavorful Italian meats, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, and melted fresh mozzarella. Perfect for a quick lunch or satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich

  • 1 Ciabatta roll
  • 1 tablespoon pesto sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 2 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 3 slices ham
  • 1 slice salami
  • 1 slice cracked black pepper salami
  • 1 slice pepperoni
  • 1 slice turkey pepperoni

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Toast Bread: Preheat your toaster oven. Cut the ciabatta roll in half horizontally and toast both sides until golden brown and slightly crispy to create a sturdy base for the sandwich fillings.
  2. Apply Spreads and Tomatoes: Spread the pesto sauce evenly on the top half of the toasted ciabatta. On the bottom half, layer the chopped sun-dried tomatoes to add a tangy, rich flavor.
  3. Layer Meats and Cheese: Place the assorted Italian meats — ham, salami, cracked black pepper salami, pepperoni, and turkey pepperoni — evenly over the sun-dried tomatoes. Then add the slices of fresh mozzarella on top of the meats.
  4. Melt the Cheese: Put just the bottom half loaded with meats and mozzarella back into the toaster oven. Toast until the mozzarella melts and becomes gooey, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Assemble and Serve: Remove the bottom half from the toaster oven and place the pesto-spread top half over it. Slice the sandwich for easy eating and serve warm to enjoy the melty, savory flavors.

Notes

  • Use a toaster oven or regular oven broiler if a toaster oven is unavailable.
  • Adjust types or amounts of meats to suit your preference.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit meats and add grilled vegetables instead.
  • Serve immediately for best taste and texture.
  • Sun-dried tomatoes can also be substituted with roasted red peppers.
