Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting
- 5 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 4 tbsp butter (softened)
- 3 tbsp caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup Imperial Sugar powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the cookies.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and dark brown sugar until smooth and well combined. Then mix in the egg, concentrated apple juice, and vanilla extract thoroughly.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Add Apples: Carefully fold in the cubed green apple pieces to distribute them evenly without breaking them down.
- Scoop and Bake: Scoop portions of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart. Bake for 12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
- Prepare Frosting and Cool: While the cookies cool on a wire rack, prepare the caramel cream cheese frosting by beating the softened cream cheese, softened butter, caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Frost Cookies: Once the cookies have cooled completely, spread or pipe the caramel cream cheese frosting on top before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the egg and butter are at room temperature for better mixing.
- Use concentrated apple juice for a richer apple flavor; substitutions may affect taste.
- For extra caramel flavor, drizzle additional caramel sauce over the frosted cookies.
- Store cookies in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 5 days; bring to room temperature before serving.
- Use fresh, crisp green apples for best texture and flavor contrast.
