Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Sausage
- 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 8 oz smoked sausage (sliced)
Vegetables
- 2 cups broccoli florets
Sauce and Seasoning
- 3 tbsp honey
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare ingredients: Peel and devein the shrimp, slice the smoked sausage into rounds, cut broccoli into florets, and mince the garlic cloves thoroughly.
- Roast broccoli: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Spread them on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for about 15 minutes until they become crispy and slightly charred.
- Cook sausage: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until browned and slightly caramelized. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook shrimp: In the same skillet, add the peeled shrimp and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside with the sausage.
- Make sauce: Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the skillet. Once melted, sauté the minced garlic for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in honey and soy sauce, allowing the mixture to simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes to develop flavor.
- Combine: Return the cooked shrimp and sausage to the skillet. Add the roasted broccoli as well. Toss everything together in the honey garlic sauce and heat through for another 2 minutes ensuring all ingredients are well coated and warmed.
- Serve: Serve the honey garlic shrimp and roasted broccoli hot, either on its own or over cooked rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use large shrimp for best texture and flavor.
- Smoked sausage adds a smoky depth but can be substituted with turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- Roasting broccoli enhances its natural sweetness and adds a crispy texture.
- Be careful not to overcook shrimp to avoid toughness.
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice, quinoa, or noodles.
