Description

Garlic Butter Shrimp and Rice Stack is a quick and delicious seafood dish that combines tender, juicy shrimp sautéed in a flavorful garlic butter sauce with perfectly cooked white rice. This elegant yet simple recipe features a hint of lemon and a touch of spice from red pepper flakes, making it a perfect weeknight dinner or a special meal to impress guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Sauce

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Rice

  • 2 cups cooked white rice (or jasmine rice for extra flavor)

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Shrimp: Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  2. Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant without burning. Add crushed red pepper flakes (if using) and lemon juice, then stir to combine.
  3. Form Rice Stacks: Divide cooked rice into four portions. Press each portion firmly into a small bowl or round mold to form compact rice stacks. Carefully invert onto serving plates.
  4. Assemble Dish: Top each rice stack with cooked shrimp. Spoon the garlic butter sauce over the shrimp to coat evenly.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over each stack. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for extra brightness.

Notes

  • Use jasmine rice for a more aromatic flavor.
  • Adjust crushed red pepper flakes to control spiciness.
  • To keep rice stacks intact, press firmly and serve immediately.
  • For extra richness, you can add a little more butter to the sauce.
  • The recipe is best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated gently on the stovetop.
