Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Seasonings
- 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 3 teaspoons Italian seasonings
- â…“ cup flour, for dredging
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 10 whole cloves of garlic
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2 ½ cups chicken broth
- 1 beef bouillon cube (or 1 tsp better than bouillon)
- 1 teaspoon low sodium soy sauce (can substitute Worcestershire sauce)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon mustard powder
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra richness)
Instructions
- Season and Dredge Chicken: Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt, pepper, and Italian seasonings. Lightly coat each chicken breast in flour, ensuring they are fully dredged for a nice crust once seared.
- Sear Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the floured chicken breasts and sear for about 6-7 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust. Once seared, remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the whole garlic cloves and sauté them until they turn a golden brown, infusing the butter with their flavor. Then remove the garlic cloves to prevent burning.
- Create Sauce Base: Whisk into the skillet the chicken broth, bouillon cube, soy sauce, onion powder, dried thyme, mustard powder, and flour. Stir consistently over medium heat until the mixture begins to simmer and thickens slightly into a sauce.
- Simmer Chicken in Sauce: Return the seared chicken breasts and sautéed garlic cloves to the skillet. Stir in the heavy cream and shredded Parmesan cheese. Cook everything together gently for an additional 5-10 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked through and the sauce is creamy and heated thoroughly.
Notes
- For best flavor, use fresh garlic cloves.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, especially salt and pepper.
- Optionally add the extra ½ cup Parmesan cheese toward the end for a richer sauce.
- Serve with pasta, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the creamy sauce.
- If you prefer, you can substitute the chicken breasts with thighs for more tenderness.
