Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sriracha or chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Buns
- 6 soft sandwich buns or dinner rolls
- Extra cheese for topping (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the buns.
- Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mayonnaise, sriracha or chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
- Prepare Buns: Slice the tops off each bun or create a shallow well in the center of each roll, being careful not to cut all the way through, so the filling can be contained inside.
- Fill Buns: Spoon a generous amount of the chicken and cheese mixture into each prepared bun, filling them evenly.
- Assemble on Baking Sheet: Place the filled buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup. Sprinkle with extra cheese and chopped green onions if desired for added flavor and presentation.
- Bake: Bake the filled buns in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the buns are lightly toasted on top.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm for the best flavor and texture experience.
Notes
- You can use rotisserie chicken for convenience and time-saving.
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or increase the amount of chili sauce to taste.
- These buns are great as party appetizers and work well when made with slider rolls for bite-sized servings.
