Description

Cheesy Dynamite Chicken Buns are a delicious and spicy appetizer featuring shredded chicken mixed with a creamy, flavorful sauce and melted cheeses, all baked inside soft sandwich buns. They are perfect for parties or a tasty snack that combines heat, creaminess, and gooey cheese in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha or chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Buns

  • 6 soft sandwich buns or dinner rolls
  • Extra cheese for topping (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the buns.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mayonnaise, sriracha or chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Prepare Buns: Slice the tops off each bun or create a shallow well in the center of each roll, being careful not to cut all the way through, so the filling can be contained inside.
  4. Fill Buns: Spoon a generous amount of the chicken and cheese mixture into each prepared bun, filling them evenly.
  5. Assemble on Baking Sheet: Place the filled buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup. Sprinkle with extra cheese and chopped green onions if desired for added flavor and presentation.
  6. Bake: Bake the filled buns in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the buns are lightly toasted on top.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm for the best flavor and texture experience.

Notes

  • You can use rotisserie chicken for convenience and time-saving.
  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or increase the amount of chili sauce to taste.
  • These buns are great as party appetizers and work well when made with slider rolls for bite-sized servings.
